Bach transcribed the 4 violin parts to 4 harpsichords. Here played on grand pianos (purists cringe).Bach wrote out in full what Vivaldi had only suggested in Baroque musical shorthand, especially in the arpeggio passages in the middle section. He further filled in Vivaldi's harmonies and achieved the richest possible effect without deviating from Vivaldi's original. One of the most fabulous transcription in the concerto literature.
